Spring Performance: Honk Jr.

January 15 - April 14

This delightful adaptation of the beloved fable and the award-winning musical is a heartwarming celebration of what makes us special.

Adapted for young performers, and with a score by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Mary Poppins), Honk! JR. is a heartwarming celebration of being different that is sure to delight audiences of all ages with its sparkling wit, unique charm and memorable score.  Witty and hilarious, but also deeply moving, Honk! JR. will treat your audiences to equal amounts of laughter and tears.

Ugly looks quite a bit different from his darling duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother's protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, the little fowl finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry Cat. Along the way, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.

About Bright Lights Institute

Bright Lights Institute provides innovative, after-school enrichment and summer programming for students in the Kansas City metro area. Through Bright Lights' programming and learning objectives, students will be equipped with the essential skills to thrive in any part of the world, any walk of life, any field, any focus. We desire to unlock the creative spirit within every student, encouraging them to shine brightly as a leader of tomorrow.

Why Bright Lights?

Our world is changing. With the fast pace of technology and information sharing, the methods, objectives and strategies of education even ten years ago are not the most effective way to reach and prepare kids for the world of their adulthood. How do we keep up with this fast pace and prepare them for careers in industries that may not even be invented yet? How do we educate them on global issues that may not be even in the light yet? If you are frustrated with educational limitations due to static curriculum, cookie-cutter programming, large class sizes, and divided instructor attentions, additional enrichment opportunities may be what you are looking for.

In every Bright Lights program, your child will be:

  • Challenged with inventive projects
  • Pulled from their comfort zones
  • Trained to think critically
  • Empowered to adapt and thrive

Core Values of Bright Lights

  • Step out and be bold
  • Work together and win as a team
  • Respect one another
  • Seek the truth and do the right thing
  • Keep all conflict constructive
